Tasting notes

Château Faizeau has a ruby colour with purple tints. The nose, fruity, spicy and complex, offers plum jam scents with a vanilla note. On the palate, the wine is full and well-balanced. The attack is persistent and delivers blackberry and chocolate aromas.

Viticultural notes

Soil type is clay-sand-loam over a limestone base. Hand picked harvest.

The 2014 Faizeau felt backward on the nose, although I discerned some attractive raspberry and wild strawberry fruit that probably needs another year to blossom. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, quite rigid at the moment but focused and well defined, leading to a fresh and energetic finish that bodes well for the future. Worth keeping an eye on, hence the plus sign.
