About this winery

Matua wine is now enjoyed here in New Zealand and around the world since 1974 – but we wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Bill and Ross Spence. Armed with lots of Kiwi ingenuity and determination, these brothers set out to revolutionise the New Zealand wine industry. Ultimately, when they produced New Zealand's first Sauvignon Blanc, they changed the way the world drinks Sauvignon Blanc.

Production notes

we treated the Sauvignon Blanc plots at the cellar in batches before fermentation in stainless steel with our house yeasts. Then the wine was left on light lees to create a silky texture and mouthfeel before ending up in the bottle for you to enjoy.

Tasting notes

This classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is deliciously pure, brimming with citrus with a hint of grapefruit and basil. The palate is fresh and vibrant with aromas of concentrated blackcurrant leaf, a hint of nettle and green melon.
