About this winery

Sena, is a signal of the world and the culmination of a vision shared by two families of wines who have joined their dreams and their efforts to give birth to the first wine Icon of Chile. In 1995, Napa Valley Industry Manager Robert Mondavi and Eduardo Chadwick of Vina Errazuriz kicked off the first strategic alliance of the Chilean wine industry to create a unique wine that captures the essence of grapes.

Winemaking notes

The grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks at 23°–28°C. Total maceration time ranged from 15 to 30 days for the Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Malbec and Cabernet Franc, and 8 to 12 days for the Petit Verdot. The final blend was moved to french oak barrels (73% new) and aged for 22 months, during which time malolactic fermentation and stabilization occurred naturally.

Tasting notes

Deep and beautiful ruby red in colour with a bright violet glimmer. The nose offers gorgeous aromas of blueberries, cherries, and violets framed by light notes of nuts and fine pastry. The palate is in perfect agreement with the nose while adding delicate notes of rose petals. It is fresh and juicy and full of life, with elegant, fine-grained tannins that are both firm yet delicate and speak of a wine with tremendous ageing potential.
