A first for us! We have talked over the years about making a melon gin of some sort, but watermelon, which was the obvious choice, just seemed to...obvious. So when we stumbled upon a local farmer growing cantaloupes, we jumped at the chance to make them into a gin!
Production notes
This spirit is made using our Unfiltered Gin 22 as the base that we macerate fresh and ripe cantaloupes. The fruit is peeled and blended for maximum flavour extraction. The colouring in the finished spirit comes just from the cantaloupes and filtered to remove any particulate. Very little sugar was added (non-gmo organic cane sugar) so most of the sweetness on the palate is coming from the cantaloupes.
